Christmas Recipes for Kids

My kids love to cook.  They each have their own aprons and get so excited each day about helping with the smallest things in the kitchen.  I wish I shared their enthusiasm for cooking dinner every night.  I enjoy cooking, but the constant NEED to cook detracts from the pleasure of it for me.

Do you have kids that love to cook up all sorts of yummy treats with you in the kitchen?  The holidays are the perfect times for letting them get a little creative with their kitchen creations.  Cooking is a family event here—a fun activity that provides a wealth of learning.  Fundamental math skills are fostered, reading skills are increased, and tummies are happy when you cook with your kids.

Tomorrow we’re diving headlong into some of our holiday baking, and we were looking for some additional recipes that are kid-friendly today when we came across Mrs. C’s Kitchen .  There are quite a few recipes on the website that my kids want to try out.  Mrs. C’s Kitchen is a section of Claus.com , which is a site similar to Northpole.com (a site that I recently recommended).  Claus.com isn’t nearly as entertaining as Northpole.com , and my kids didn’t care for it much until we reached Mrs. C’s Kitchen .  There aren’t many recipes, but the ones they do have are a mixture of healthy snacks and sugary ones.

Mix up a healthy snack with your kids while you’re wading through all the sugar, spice, and chocolate in your kitchen.  It’ll (with any luck) help keep the sugar insanity to a minimum in this busiest time of the year.
